That First Night

When I wound up in the cold that night
I thought my life had really lost some light
But then through the dark came your vision
Of rightful need hope and decisions
Of what we should do next
After the pleasantry questions had commenced
And we fell into a warm bed after wine
Music song and chat, do you remember that
Dining on the fat of the land and listened to bands
do you remember the morning that
Followed, holiday photos, smiles and eyes
Following each other around then heading for ground
in the fallout from the night,
Waiting for each others bells, the phone just might.

Sweet Sydney 2

Sweet Sydney

Sydney saved my kidneys
My liver and my heart cos
Ive been a drinking
And Ive come really far.
Ive sat and chilled out
But I’m getting really restless
The boredom starting flatness.
Find it very stagnant, find it
Quite repugnant, in some ways,
Some days and in some plays.
The drama’s pretty tedious
Too hot to comfortably handle.
I need to see more country
And I'll know Ive really landed.

Watching the Street

Watching the street

Sit and watch the neighbours
Through the window
watching each others stars.
Sit and watch the neighbours
Spying cruelly
Watching through their bars.
Sit and watch the neighbours
Living slowly
Washing all their cars.
Sit and watch the neighbours
Gossip friendly
Turn their backs and slag each other off
For they are not the loving kind.

Listen to the the streets steps talking
To each other,
In their blackened yards.
Old birds and garden dwellers,
Telling stories.
Spinning thinning yarns.
All the crazy lying,
Stories growing
Spreading to afar.
Cannot find a reason
Why miserable people,
Turn their backs and slag each other off,
For they are not the loving kind.

Dinner Doreen

Dinner Doreen

On Monday I like my comfort stew
on tuesday I like my hot chilli
on Wednesday we like a bolly
and thursday sonething special for our tea
On Friday we must have pizza,
chinese, curry or thai
On Saturday we like whatever
on sunday roasts for us to dine
roasters and yorkshire pudding,
three veg and some brown gravy,
deliciously maddening,.
Some days we have a salad,
some days we have no greens,
But simply and lovely living
is easy as this doreen....

Finance

Watch me go into the bank over yonder
Watch me see the teller there
Let me talk to him whilst I am browsing
Is he the money seller man of strange wonder

‘Can I buy some money?’
‘With what are you going to buy’
‘The money that you will give me
Is the money that I will try’

So he gave me some money to purchase the goods
Buy some money from the branch for a ranch
And he said that I really should return there
Come see him in one month for some lunch

Returned did I in a short while
To see the man who was nice
But they said that he no longer worked there
And they refused my hard earned cup of rice

Which was all that I had for my money
It was all I could show in the end
They said that my house looked just stunning
They said that they really shouldn’t lend

So they stole all my money and possessions
They took away my self respect
They threw away all hope of our future
They conned, stole and delivered my end.

No Tears

No Tears

When you came round
A new person you have found
I was All on my own
Just waiting and prone
To the nice things you say
When you come round this way
All sweet and all pure
I am totally really sure.

Its time you are gone
When I see your none
Of the things I first thought
When Our time was so short
Just together round here
I lost all my fear
No fright and no tears………..
.

Tonight im too tired

Tonight I’m too Tired

When sleep takes its toll
And I’m feeling rather older
Than usual today
Or should I say today.
I feel like my bones are
Feeling the strain
It’s not really pain
But just a dull heated
Bake, a low canceling
Ache, throbbing in the everlasting
Times of beer, lager
And lemon and limes,
Easy going, ever ready,
Battery social times.
I’m staring to stay awake
Bowling over all
The frozen shakes
And driving my jelly lakes
In a belly of pizza,
Oh Lisa, oh golly gosh,
Sit down naked
Nude and bare bodied,
Bottom shape, eyes they gape
I adore complexion coloured.
Bed is now available,
No time for mind inevitable,
Time to sleep away fatigue
As I have put
To many questions
to a simple tired
Body, and too many tasks
I asked of ,
A simple tired mind.

New Job

New Job in the Morning AND WORK

New job on the morn
After a long gratuitous yawn
Shower, teeth, wash aswell
Scrub, tea, brek, tea, news
Emails, more, more tea and thoughts
Glance at the view, thoughts, tea
News, sit, flick, pick up the keys.

Let it be mkII

We here for a death that’s no ones fault
Memories of holidays and toys
Inside a cold and empty vault
Except the father and his boys
Everyone is cold and not at home
Except them, their, there alone
Troubled waters flowing yesterday
Your poem spoke of ordered time and shame
No its not, really not ok
Incomprehensible thoughts of blame
Selfish feelings here are hard to tame
They tell us who we are and why we came

Why did you leave without telling us just ‘why?’
You didn’t wish to stay no more let time go by
There is no meaning to the consolation prize
If your not around how can you see us cry.

Life Changing

Life Changing

Gave up smoking,
This stopped most
Of the drinking too,
Thought that life
Would change,
Thought I wouldn't
Feel so blue.
There are perceptible
Changes and things
That differ now
I have begun to
remember stuff,
Smells and feelings
But more rows,
Thus the atmosphere
And light...
Perfumes smelling
Bright, lights to
Past concessions,
Taste of food &
Short confessions a
Personal lingering youth
And pain of broken tooth
Hot shame and strange stains
Belief, spaceman, astronaut
Intelligent rational thought,
I was a star, thought
I'd have a car,
Bigger house
Certainly not...
Living hand to mouth
I gave up smoking.

18th Reality

18th Reality

Well 18 at last Tom, Tom
What are you going to do
Drink, shout and be merry
Then dance the whole night through

I think though rather, if you will
It may go a bit like this….
A few pints you may spill
And you’ll get very pissed

Swaying, rocking in the bar
With your trousers at your feet
We hope you show some self-control
When your strippers on her knees

It’s all down hill from here my son
Now you’ve become a man
Legal drinks and voting slips
And drive a plumbers van.

We hope you have a lovely day
Happy Birthday to you
Tomorrow we know you will pay
When howling at the loo.
